Cannassentials: Utilizing our license to expand social equity in Illinois.
Whatever the intent of the Illinois Social Equity program, the reality is, it's a hot mess. The point was to give a boost to people who are from impacted areas, code word poor. So, we got a few points lead for being poor. Next thing you know, you're getting kicked out of the program because you don't have any money to pay the annual fee. Catch 22? From the standpoint of an Illinois licensee, it's like winning a ticket to the Willie Wonka chocolate factory but once you get there, you don't have any money to buy anything. And they kick you out. What did Fergie say, "If you ain't got no money, take your broke ass home."
Or is it more like the recent movie, The Burial? Tommy Lee Jones plays a lovable character who goes into a business deal to sell his company, fully expecting the other party will constructively perform per the terms of the buyout contract. Instead, the opposing partner deliberately stalls the negotiations to strangle Tommy Lee's character into selling out in desperation.
Whatever the intent, Illinois Social Equity license holders are left holding the bag. In this case, empty bags as the State has failed to deliver on its promise of $250k start up funds for each cannabis business. Does this make sense? Bring licensees on a multi year journey with numerous pitfalls and changes with continued promises of funding only to revoke the license you worked too hard to get - because you didn't get the promised funding? It only makes sense if you there in the background ready to pick up all of the licenses at rock bottom prices. Who wrote this script? Plagiarized, I say! Plagiarized!
We can't allow this to happen. We've worked too hard and sacrificed too much to give it all away for nothing. We don't have to give up our licenses to the Big Guys, we can work together to bring equity to our State. By combining our strengths and resources as license holders we can create opportunities for ourselves.
Let's work together on a distribution hub to reduce transportation costs. If we pool together can we reduce Distillate costs by buying in bulk? Why can't emerging licensees occupy the same space for cost reasons? There are close to 20 market risks facing Illinois Licensees, and that's once they get their doors open. How much help can we give ourselves? How can we save ourselves?
Holly's High Society and through its sister company, Cannassentials, is opening the doors to Out of State Operators and In State, non-licensed infusers to utilize our license through co-packing agreements. Together we can get your products to market. In addition, we offer supportive business services to take make your company profitable. Let's work together to bring equity to Social Equity in Illinois.
